Yamaha has rolled out the 2025 MT-15 with several notable updates, most prominently the inclusion of dual-channel ABS, USD forks, and a new 5-inch TFT instrument console.

Talking About Ice Storm 2025 version : It has OBD2-B and various cosmetic features. Above all though, the bike is now far cheaper - some Rs 18,000 cheaper on-road with the recent 10-percent cut in GST - as well.

However, the additional features have not seen Yamaha stray much with the DNA of the MT-15, as its design language has remained largely the same.

Design, Styling, and Cosmetic Changes

Although the design structure remains untouched, Yamaha has introduced several fresh cosmetic elements.

The motorcycle sports a full robotic aesthetic, amplified by new LED wings with integrated hazard function.

The earlier version didn’t offer hazard lights, but the new update adds a dedicated inbuilt hazard button. The robotic LED DRLs further enhance the futuristic front profile.

The multi-functional LED projector headlamp setup continues, offering an aggressive and stylish look. The motorcycle’s overall visual appeal remains that of a compact yet bold street machine that feels robotic while riding.

Up front, Yamaha has equipped the bike with 37mm golden USD forks, paired with a matte-grey front fender.

The Ice Storm variant carries a 10-liter matte grey fuel tank, an MT logo, and a 3D Yamaha badge, along with MT-15 graphics in light blue and black. Air-vent style mesh accents add to the sporty stance.

Wheels, Tyres, and Braking

The bike is given light blue colored alloys, which are synchronous with the new theme. The 100/80-17 tubeless tyre is used in the front wheel and is supported by a 282mm standard disc with ABS and a single-piston caliper.

The alloy blue theme of light blue is repeated at the back. It comes with a 220mm disc with ABS, which is combined with the 140/70-17 radial tyre.

The broader 140mm profile provides great cornering and great grip on the city and roads.

Suspension, Build, and Chassis

Yamaha still employs it familiar Deltabox frame, which is the same that is found in the R15, which guarantees high rigidity and excellent handling.

Performance-oriented structure of the bike is enhanced by side ventilation panels, aluminum swingarm and general powerful construction.

A link-type adjustable monoshock is fitted at the rear and the USD forks are fitted at the front. The ground clearance is still 170 mm, which is fit to the Indian roads.

A big radiator controls the cooling of the engine to avoid possible overheating at higher RPMs. The OBD2-B update has provided the model with two oxygen sensors.

Mileage and Engine Performance

The refined 155cc liquid cooled, 4-stroke, 4-valve engine with OBD2-B is used to power the motorcycle. The engine produces:
18.4 PS max power
14.1 Nm torque @ 7,500 rpm

It has one of the strongest engines in the 150-160cc segment. A mileage of 45-50km/l, and a top speed of 140-145km/h can be expected by the riders.

The 155cc engine is considered to be one of the most reliable power units of Yamaha, which can be used in the long run with a minimum degradation in terms of its capabilities.

The engine consumes 850 ml of engine oil and the model still has the six-speed gearbox with assist slipper clutch, the quickshifter is not provided.

Ergonomics and Riding Position

The riding triangle of MT-15 is still focused on comfort.
The handlebars can be pulled towards the rider and are slightly upright as compared to being aggressive like the R15 which makes them comfortable thus allowing the rider a relaxed posture which is conducive to day to day commuting.

The switchgear has engine kill switch, self-start, indicator controls, horn and a new dedicated console switch.

New 5-inch TFT Display: A Key Improvement

The largest addition to the 2025 model is inclusion of a 5-inch full-color TFT screen, which is the same as the one on the higher-end R15 models. Features include:
  • RPM meter
  • Gear position indicator
  • Speedometer
  • Trip info
  • Fuel gauge
  • ABS warning light
  • Check engine light
  • TCS (traction control) indicator.

The TFT has got Bluetooth connectivity, and for the rider, he/she can control the music, check call/SMS alerts, call notifications, and even the turn-by-turn GPS navigation.

Other display options are:
Traction control on/off
Shift indicator
Two selectable themes
Day/night/ auto brightness options.
Distance units (km/miles)
Units of fuel efficiency (km/litre or L/100 km)
Temperature controls
Reset and software options

This is what leaves the MT-15 as one of the most featured 150cc bikes.

Seat, Comfort, and Dimensions

The riding seat of the rider is moderately comfortable with a minimal cushion with the pillion being small and less comfortable.

Yamaha has installed side panels that will ensure the dirt or debris does not splash on the pillion particularly in the monsoons.
Other key dimensions:
  • Length: 2015 mm
  • Height: 1070 mm
  • Tank capacity: 10 liters
  • Seat height: 810 mm
  • Kerb weight: 141 kg
  • Dry weight: ~132-133 kg
Other features include the LED tail lamp, fiber seat cowl and dual-tone stickers in the bike.

Pricing After GST Cut

Previously, the MT-15 TFT model used to cost about Rs 2.16-2.17 lakh on road. The price has been decreased by an amount of approximately Rs 18,000 after the 10% GST cut.

The new prices(approx.) are:
Ex-showroom (18% GST): Rs 1,65,900
On-road (including RTO + insurance): Rs 1,97,865.
And this renders the MT-15 even more attractive in the high-end 150cc market.
