Nothing OS 4.0 Stable Rolls Out to Nothingg Phone 3 Users, Bringing Fresh UI & More

Nothing has finally pushed the stable version of Nothing OS 4.0 to the Phone 3, and early impressions suggest it’s a fairly substantial jump rather than a routine patch. Users who’ve been waiting since the beta days will probably notice it right from the lock screen.
The interface feels tighter, quicker, and more responsive. A lot of things have been cleaned up, and the overall experience has a sharper, more grown-up feel.
One of the first changes you’ll spot is the revamped status bar. The battery icon, network bars and even the clock have been tweaked and now look much cleaner. It’s subtle but noticeable once you spend a few minutes with the new layout.
Animations have also been redone - opening apps, pulling down notifications, switching between windows, everything feels just a little smoother and more grounded.

The company is leaning harder into AI features with OS 4.0. Glimpse Matrix now works more like real-time activity cards - you can check your cab’s progress, see your food delivery updates or follow a live score without opening apps.It shows up on the home screen or lock screen and blends nicely with Nothing’s minimal design.
There are also new indicators that appear whenever certain AI tasks are happening. The AI Usage Time Indicator helps you understand which apps you spend the most time on.
The Whisper prompt shows up during voice or sound-based actions. And the Gemini indicator appears when Google’s Gemini AI is working in the background. None of these overwhelm the interface; they just give you small nudges or hints about what’s happening.
Nothing has also updated its widget lineup. The Weather widget has been refreshed and now matches the new visual style better. A new Pedometer widget tracks steps right from the home screen, and a Screen Time widget gives you a quick look at your phone usage for the day. These widgets make the interface feel more personal and informative without being flashy.
The Glyph System Gets a Playful Side
The Glyph lights on the back of the device have become one of Nothing’s signature elements. With OS 4.0, they’re getting new tricks.Glyph Toys add playful animations, and Moon Fuzz is probably the standout- it's a fun, futuristic pattern that feels very “Nothing.”
The Glyph Timer has also been improved. Set a timer, place the phone down, and the countdown glows through the LED strips. It’s surprisingly useful in real life, especially when cooking or working out.
Setting up Glyphs is easier now because the menus have been reorganized. Everything is more intuitive, and there’s less digging through sub-menus.
A new feature called Glyph Mirror syncs the light patterns between multiple Nothing devices, which is a small but enjoyable addition if you own more than one product from the brand.
Smoother Performance and Smarter Upgrades
Beyond visuals and AI features, Nothing OS 4.0 brings several practical improvements. Animations are faster, and gesture navigation feels much smoother.It’s the kind of change you don’t notice immediately but appreciate the more you use the device.
One of the bigger additions is Pop-Up View. This allows you to open apps in small floating windows while using another app in full screen. It’s helpful for multitasking -replying to messages while watching a video or keeping notes open during a call.
Battery optimization has also been tweaked. Background apps now run more efficiently, making the whole system feel lighter and more responsive.
The Clock app also gets a refresh with new clock faces and layout styles, giving users more options to personalize their lock screen.
Essential apps including Phone, Messages and Settings have been given small design updates. Nothing too dramatic, but enough to keep things consistent across the system.
Quick Settings also loads faster and feels more responsive. The brightness slider, in particular, reacts more smoothly.
