India’s automotive market is gearing up for an action-packed season as major manufacturers roll out new models, update existing lineups, and make bold forays into the fast-expanding electric vehicle segment.
From Tata Motors’ long-awaited Sierra production reveal to Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming EV debut.
Yamaha’s fresh mix of retro motorcycles and EV scooters, here’s a detailed look at the biggest announcements of the week.
Tata Motors Unveils Production-Ready Sierra
Tata Motors has finally pulled the covers off the production-spec Sierra in Mumbai, giving enthusiasts their first real look at the modern revival of this iconic nameplate.
Interestingly, the design remains faithful to the earlier concept versions that generated significant buzz.
The SUV features a squared-off nose with a clean, rectangular gloss-black grille. While this display version featured an ICE face, Tata confirmed that the EV variant will receive a distinct front fascia.
The Sierra rolls on stylish 19-inch alloy wheels and features flush-fitting door handles that enhance its premium feel.
The biggest nostalgic throwback is unmistakable—the signature wraparound rear-side glass panel inspired by the original Sierra from the 1990s.
At the rear, a full-width LED light strip adds a modern touch, and the powered tailgate opens to a generous boot.
Inside, Tata has taken a futuristic approach with a striking triple-screen layout that stretches across the dashboard.
Although the company has not released the full features list, the cabin preview revealed ventilated and memory-enabled powered seats, a wireless charger, and even a dashboard-mounted soundbar.
Rear passengers also benefit from reclining seatbacks, individual headrests, sunshades, and a panoramic sunroof extending almost the entire length of the roof.
Engine options remain unconfirmed, but expectations point toward three choices: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel. Pricing details will be officially announced on November 25.
Maruti Suzuki Prepares for December 2 EV Launch
Maruti Suzuki is set to enter India’s EV market with its highly anticipated electric SUV-internally referred to as the “E- vitara.”
While the price reveal was initially expected earlier this year, software and battery supply issues caused a delay.
The model, which is already being exported, is produced exclusively in Gujarat. Around 7,000 units have been shipped globally since August, with the UK emerging as the top destination.
Internationally, the E- Vitara is offered with two battery packs: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The front-mounted motor produces 144 hp with the smaller battery and 174 hp with the larger.
A more powerful dual-motor AWD version delivers 184 hp. As for range, the 61 kWh FWD variant achieves 428 km on the WLTP cycle, while the AWD offers 394 km. The entry-level 49 kWh version delivers 344 km.
Expected pricing indicates a starting point of around ₹ 20 lakh for the 49 kWh variant and ₹25 lakh for the 61 kWh version.
Audi Introduces New Signature Line Packages
Audi India has launched a new set of Signature Line packages for the Q3, Q3 Sportback, and Q5 at no extra cost.
These packages include welcome-logo projection lamps, stylish decals, floating wheel caps, and metallic key covers.
The Q3 siblings now offer 18-inch alloy wheels and a new progressive red exterior shade, while the Q5 receives striking 19-inch graphite-grey wheels.
Inside, all Signature Line vehicles get stainless steel pedals and a fragrance dispenser. Additional features for the Q3 and Q3 Sportback include Park Assist Plus and dual rear USB ports.
Tata Updates Curvv and Curvv EV
Tata has refreshed the Curvv and Curvv EV with added features and new dual-tone interior themes available on higher trims.
Both models now offer dual-zone climate control, perforated rear seats that adjust with occupant movement, rear sunshades, and a redesigned center armrest. A white carbon-fiber trim adds a premium touch to the cabin.
The Curvv EV also offers winged headrests and an elevated footrest for improved comfort. Engine options remain unchanged across the lineup.
Porsche and Maserati Expand India’s High-Performance EV Market
Porsche has launched the updated 911 Turbo S in India, priced at ₹3.8 crore (ex-showroom).
This is the most powerful 911 ever sold here, featuring a 3.6-litre twin-turbo hybrid flat-six producing an enormous 711 hp and 800 Nm.
With an astonishing 0–100 km/h time of just 2.5 seconds, the Turbo S hits a top speed of 322 km/h and recently clocked a blistering 7:03.92 lap at the Nürburgring.
Maserati, meanwhile, has introduced three all-electric models: the GranTurismo Folgore, the GranCabrio Folgore, and the Grecale Folgore SUV.
The GranTurismo and GranCabrio boast a tri-motor 761 hp setup (boosting to 829 hp temporarily), 0 to 100 km/h times under 2.8 seconds, and up to 450 km range.
The Grecale Folgore, priced at ₹1.89 crore, features a 105 kWh battery, 550 hp output, and 501 km claimed range.
Yamaha Also Expands with New Motorcycles and EV Scooters
Yamaha has announced several new two-wheelers, headlined by the XSR155, a neo-retro motorcycle priced at ₹1.5 lakh. It carries the proven 155cc liquid-cooled engine from the R15 and MT-15, producing 18.4 hp and 14.1 Nm.
Weighing 137 kg, it offers dual-channel ABS, traction control, and a classic round LED headlamp.
The company also launched the FZ Rave at ₹ 1.17 lakh, featuring the familiar 149cc engine and a refreshed LED headlight.
On the EV front, Yamaha previewed the EC-06 electric scooter, based on the River Indie platform, with a 4 kWh battery and 160 km claimed range.
The Aerox E, an electric version of the Aerox 155, was also displayed with dual detachable batteries and a 106 km certified range.
From futuristic electric SUVs to high-performance sports cars and practical motorcycles, this week marks one of the busiest in the Indian automotive world.
With major launches lined up for November and December, buyers across segments have plenty to look forward to.
